About
I’m Marc Ryan and Data Directed Decisioning is a platform I use to share my thoughts on new media, marketing, research and life in general. The concept stems from a belief that the world is data rich and decisions we usually thought of as being based on some kind of art form and gut feel are now being overtaken with data. In fact the data wave we’re riding seems close to overwhelming us in it’s wake.
I also feel it’s important to temper the data culture we live in with some sense of rationality, because as Benjamin Disraeli said there are, “Lies, damned lies, and statistics”.
Bear in mind what I publish here is my personal opinion, not approved by anyone except and not necessarily representative of the views of my current or former employers.
